Basketball Drills: The Post Up Game
Coach Nick of Bball Breakdown demonstrates these basketball drills to improve your post up game with the Dr. Dish All Star Basketball Shooting Machine.
We’ve heard it plenty and I’m sure you have too…”In today’s game, the post up game is dead!”
Sure, there’s been more of an emphasis on outside shooting as the game has grown to value 3 pointers more than ever. But, can we really say that the post-up game is not important anymore?
We at Dr. Dish Basketball believe one of the main reasons the post-up game may be in decline is because of a lack of teaching the position through relevant basketball drills. Also, many post players are more worried about dunking than they are building their post up arsenal unfortunately!
Use these basketball drills to dominate the post!
How To Use Basketball Shooting Machines
As we’ve mentioned before, many think that basketball shooting machines are only for off-season training. But, it’s critical to make sure that every player is getting plenty of repetitions during the season as well with basketball shooting drills.
Any program, coach, or trainer that has a basketball shooting machine should train with a purpose. Whether it’s practicing these post up drills or any other action, shooting machines are best utilized when simulating game-like conditions.
Forcing players to train at game speed will only benefit them when they are in the game. We often hear about how players and teams shoot great in practice, but can’t seem to hit shots in games. We specifically designed our machines for players to train like they’re in the game.
With our integrated heart rate strap, players can actually track how they shoot at game speed as opposed to comfortably taking warm up shots. There’s even a setting where the Dr. Dish machine will rotate faster and faster until the player’s heart rate is at game speed. The machine doesn’t have a conscious and won’t give any player a break.
